SC motorists to pay less per mile to drive

AAA Carolinas says motorists in South Carolina will likely pay less per mile to drive this year.
The auto club released a report Tuesday that shows driving costs for the average sedan will drop 4 cents, from 58 cents a mile in 2008 to 54 cents this year.
Spokesman Tom Crosby said the drop in gas prices has contributed to lower driving costs in 2009.
The average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gas was $3.48 in April 2008, compared to $1.92 this month.
AAA Carolinas says a South Carolina driver traveling 15,000 miles this year can expect an annual savings of around $600.
The calculations are based on operating costs such as fuel, tires and maintenance. It also uses ownership costs including insurance, taxes and depreciation.
