A 12-year-old South Carolina boy is facing murder charges in the shooting death of his 11-year-old nephew.

Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers says investigators decided to charge the 12-year-old as a juvenile after a court hearing Tuesday. The boy’s name hasn’t been released.

Summers says the 12-year-old shot 11-year-old Langley Rudisell IV in the head during an argument in their home Sunday in St. Matthews, about 35 miles south of Columbia.

Coroner Donnie Porth said Rudisell was pronounced dead later that day at a Columbia hospital.

The 12-year-old will be under house arrest with electronic monitoring until his trial in family court. If convicted, he could be held in a juvenile prison until age 21.

Another tragedy caused by a gun in a home. When will people understand there is a greater chance of a gun doing harm then good. How many children have died this year from gun shots? Yeah I know, guns don't kill people do. I am willing to bet if a gun wasn't available the 11 year old would still be alive.
