What: The event, which includes a 1-mile fun run and walk and a 5K run and walk, is the largest single fundraiser for the Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure, which fights breast cancer in 13 counties along the South Carolina coast.

When: Saturday. The 1-mile event starts at 8:30 a.m. The 5K begins at 9:10 a.m. An awards ceremony starts at 10 a.m.

Where: Family Circle Tennis Center, Daniel Island.

Registration and packet pickup: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday at the UBS Center (formerly Daniel Island Medical Center), Daniel Island; 7 a.m. Saturday, Family Circle Tennis Center. (Participants are strongly urged to register and get packets on Friday.)

Race day parking: Free parking is available in the Governor’s Park parking lot next to the Family Circle Tennis Center or in the overflow parking lot across from Publix. Please arrive early for parking. Traffic will not be able to exit the parking lots before 9:30 am. Parking is at your own risk.

Goal for the event: 8,000 participants. Last year’s event drew 6,800.
