Several viewers emailed News 2 reporting loud booms and a lot of shaking around 6:38 a.m. Saturday.

We are working to get the quake confirmed, but this is the same area where other quakes have hit over the last year or so.

Here are some of the emails from our viewers:

From Laurie:

At 6:38 this am, heard rattling in the house. Noise was similar to an earthquake we had earlier this year. Live off of 61 in Summerville, Legend Oaks.

From anonymous:

We felt an earthquake about 6:35 this morning. It was strong enough to wake me up. My husband was walking the dog and thought it was an explosion. It lasted for about 3 seconds. It felt like it would be about a 3.5.

From Deborah:

AT 6:37 AM THIS MORNING WE EXPERIENCED WHAT FELT LIKE 2 LOUD BOOMS AND A SHORT LOW RUMBLE THAT LASTED LESS THAN 5 SECONDS. MY HOUSE SHOOK SLIGHTLY ON THE 2ND BOOM AND THE RUMBLE. MY CATS SAT UP OUT OF THEIR SLEEP AND TOOK NOTICE OF THE INCIDENT. I LIVE IN JAMISON TERRACE A COUPLE HUNDRED YARDS FROM FAULT LINE DRIVE AND MILES JAMISON ROAD.

From tbcohen:

Mild shaking of my house in the Summerville area off Linconville Road at 6:40am this morning… has anyone else reported a quake?

From Jennifer/via Facebook:

yes, thank you.  I have been searching all over the net since it happened to see if that’s what it was.  But, yes I felt it over here in Sangaree.

I also live near the intersection of Bacon's Bridge and Dorchester Roads and felt it. The USGS survey website says it was a 3.2 occurring @ 6:37:12 and was located 5 miles ENE of Summerville. SC.
