Void was engaged and stationed in the same location with his fiancée in Afghanistan. He was deployed in April and expected to return this December.

His mother say’s the 20-year-old told her not to worry, though she admits she always did. S he wants other parents with sons or daughters overseas know that she’s sad, but she’s proud.

“All I can tell them is just pray,” says Sallie Void. “Pray and leave it in God’s hands, God will handle it.  Mine wasn’t one of the lucky one’s to come back but I know he’s with God and I know he’s going to be alright now.”

Demetrius void’s older brother Tacobi is really taking his brother’s loss hard, but he was proud to tell News 2 the military promoted him posthumously to the rank of sergeant.

The family is awaiting void’s remains. They are in the process of making funeral plans, but a service date has not been set.
