Non-tropical storm to landfall in South Carolina

A “non-tropical” storm will landfall tonight near the South Carolina Grand Strand bringing with it gusty winds and some heavy rain.  The greatest potential for heavy rain will be in Berkeley, northern Charleston, Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg counties overnight with lighter rainfall amounts south of Interstate 26.

Latest forecast guidance suggests the storm will continue moving west or northwest over the next few days delivering much needed rainfall to interior sections of the Carolinas.

This storm system and high pressure over New England have been producing flooding and high surf across the coastal areas of South Carolina.  Gusty winds have been making driving difficult on some of our higher bridges.  Weather conditions are expected to improve rapidly on Friday with leftover clouds and showers expected to quickly end by afternoon.
