Toy stores and others will also have to follow new rules regarding lead Tuesday.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission passed new rules requiring more testing, less lead and better review of the toys.
It also puts strict regulations on clothing made for ages 12 and younger.
The commission later clarified the rules to allow some flexibility for consignment shops and thrift stores.
Stores will not have to test their own inventory, but if they are caught selling children’s clothing with lead they face civil and-or criminal charges.
