NAACP to monitor Memorial Day Bikefest

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina civil rights leaders say they will be watching police and businesses as thousands of black motorcyclists head toward the coast.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will talk Thursday about how they will monitor the Memorial Day Bikefest taking place this weekend.
The NAACP has had its Operation Bike Week Justice in place for five years. The goal is to make sure black bikers are treated the same as white bikers who attended the Harley-Davidson rally earlier in the month.
Three years ago, the NAACP settled a discrimination lawsuit with Myrtle Beach over traffic restrictions only for the black biker rally and successfully sued several restaurants and a hotel for treating black bikers differently.
