McGinley Responds to Coverup Allegations
School Bus Rape
The School Board responds to allegations
The day after a Lowcountry father came to News 2 claiming he wasn’t getting any answers about his daughter’s alleged rape on a school bus, Charleston County School superintendent Dr. Nancy McGinley says his allegation is false.
“They covered up the paperwork,“ says the father. “Why? When you’re a parent and something like that happens to your child it confuses you. you don’t know which way to turn.“
“The allegation was very sketchy in terms of the elementary school child,“ Dr. McGinley says.
The father claims his daughter was raped by another student on a Charleston County School bus back in December.
According to the police report no one saw what happened but the boy was expelled and arrested.
There’s conflicting information and that’s why the validity of it has to be sorted out by the solicitor,“ Dr. McGinley said.
Although McGinley could not comment on whether the man’s daughter was raped, she says she stands behind the district’s actions.
“The counselor acted immediately notifying the principal and calling the parent,“ she says. “The father is concerned about his daughter which i can understand. The way to resolve things (at the district level) is to contact the associate superintendent or my office and he admitted he had not done that.“
