Many in state rally around Jenny Sanford

After a week of scandal and revelations, many in South Carolina are rallying around First Lady Jenny Sanford.

Some think her reaction to Governor Sanford’s confessions could sink or save his political career.

Mark Sanford told the Associated Press that his mistress is his soulmate and that he is trying to fall back in love with his wife Jenny.

That is not sitting well with many in the state and is pushing the First Lady and her four children into a sympathetic spotlight.

The Palmetto Family Council is launching a “Stand with Jenny” campaign. They applaud the first lady for putting her children first and not Mark Sanford’s political career. They say, unlike other political wives in similar situations, Jenny Sanford is not by her husband’s side and they appreciate that.

It's really too bad that Gov. Stanford was not faithful to his wife. It is also really too bad that Jenny Stanford is using this as a pulpit for her conservative agenda. Gay marriage had nothing to do with the demise of her marriage and if she truly believes that, I would offer that kind of illogical thinking as a great motivating factor for her husband's eye to have wandered. When things start to fall apart in anyones life, it is often easier to look elsewhere rather than in the mirror. I'm guessing her own mirrored image scares her as much as it scared her husband. Too bad she can run into the arms of someone else. She's stuck with herself and I'm guessing that is not such a pleasant place to be.

My story and Jenny's is almost identical except my ex-husband's mistress was from Paraguay and he was a well known high school principal instead of a governor.I too found out about his affair at the first of the year but there was not hope for reconciliation. He had already been planning to leave me for months and had taken a job in Paraguay before I found out. These men are having mid life issues and are demonstrating narcissism at it's best. Men like them who can so easily lie and betray those close to them will think nothing of lying and cheating to get whatever they want to make them feel good about themselves. They have severe character flaws and should not be trusted to handle jobs as important as leading a state goverment or managing our children's education. Jenny, I wish I could talk to you so we could support each other. I know what you are going through.

First, the Governor has embarrassed us. It is a sad state of affairs (no pun intended) for South Carolina. I voted for him as well. But, based on his stubborn will, and his desire to play hypocritical politics, he and Jenny will most likely do “politically correct” public relation things. I suspect this will involve moving the entire family back to the Governor’s Mansion, telling the world they are going to reconcile for the sake of the kids, making family photos to be printed, and attempting to show South Carolina citizens things are getting back to business…at least for the next 18 months.

Jenny is a fool if she continues to go along with Mark. Of course I guess we all look like fools in SC at this point.

I am married to a "Mark Sanford." We have not heard it all and may never hear it all. What more could a person want in life? A loving, devoted, wife, four healthy children, financially well off, being elected Governor...these men are all about themselves and they think they are "entitled." (to more) Who wants a Governor who lies about his lies? This devastating behavior is incredibly painful and destructive to his family. Listen to him carefully - he stumbles over his own lies and is not fit to hold office. I know your pain, Jenny.
