Some former soldiers are pausing to reflect on the shootings at Fort Hood, as we get closer to Veterans Day.

Patriots Point has already started their Veterans Day celebration, and while many got a chance to learn about the history of the military, many of the veterans who were teaching, were also thinking about the incident at Fort Hood.

Several we spoke with said their hearts go out to the family of those killed, and to those injured.

One veteran, Michael Michealski, told us he can understand why Major Nidal Malik Hasan snapped, especially since Hasan was an Army psychiatrist counseling those with post traumatic stress disorders.

“It’s a high stress situation, and he’d been hearing for a couple of years all the horror stories of the guys that came back.“

Others we spoke with said the shootings reminded them of other incidents, like the one at Fort Bragg in 1995, and they say they don’t think there’s really anything that could have been done to stop it.
