Key to battle the cold: Dress warmly
So how do you stay warm during cold days and nights?
Start with a first layer that minimizes the amount of body heat that can escape. Add additional layers to keep you warm.
“You don’t want to do a bulky layer over a bulky layer. Instead, you want something that is close to your body that keeps the warmth in,” explains Cyprian Gillingham, of Half-Moon Outfitters in Mount Pleasant.
A fleece lined jacket is recommended to provide warmth. Also, it’s a good idea to pick out a jacket with an outer shell that is resistant to the wind.
Make sure your extremities are covered and reduce the amount of time you spend outside.
And remember to check on the young and old during the cold weather. Children and the elderly are far more susceptible to the dangers of cold weather than everyone else.
