South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford says she warned her husband not to see his mistress before a trip last week and was shocked he met her in Argentina anyway.

Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press that she discovered Gov. Mark Sanford’s affair in January when she found a letter from him to the other woman. She said she told him to end the affair and he
agreed to.  She said that when the governor told her recently he needed time alone to write, she specifically warned him not to visit the mistress. She was shocked to learn this week that he’d gone to
Argentina to do just that.

South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford says she discovered her husband’s affair in January when she found a letter to the governor from his mistress.

Jenny Sanford says she stayed with her husband while their four sons were attending their private school in Columbia. She waited until the school year ended to leave him for their coastal home on
Sullivans Island.

She wept as she displayed her boys’ stellar report cards and said she most worries about how they’re being affected by the scandal. Jenny Sanford says she plans to take them out of the state for the weekend.

There are only two questions Mrs. Sanford needs to ask herself: 1) How much humiliation do I want to take? 2) How much humiliation do I want my children to endure and watch their mother endure? There is no longer the question of "Can this marriage be saved?" There is no "marriage" to save, as that trust and union was destroyed the moment he slept with or became "soulmates" with another woman.

Mark Sandford's affair is a personal matter of concern only to his spouse, but it is outrageous that he missed father's day with his four children. Yet, even this is a personal issue. However, his criminal behavior is of concern to me a citizen of South Carolina. He used state tax payer dollars to fund at least one trip to visit his mistress! He left the country and left our state ungoverned for almost a week! What if we had had a crisis or natural disaster? This is very poor leadership and governance. I, my neighbors, friends, and members of my church believe that a respectable Republican, such as Andre Bauer, needs to serve as Governor of our state and Mark Sandford should be impeached immediately. He should be impeached, not for being human, and having an affair, but for his criminal activities!
