Sunday marked 19 years since hurricane Hugo slammed into the lowcountry. September 21st, 1989, the storm made landfall as a category 4 hurricane.

Winds were calculated at 135 miles per hour. The storm surge practically left the city of Charleston under water.

Hugo moved ashor causing 7 billion dollars in damage. The storm claimed 29 lives.
