Over 200,000 people visited the Holiday Festival of Lights last year alone. The event is held annually at the James Island County Park transforming the outdoor recreation haven into a winter wonderland.
“The highlight of the festival every year is the 3 mile drive throughout the 3 mile drive you can see 600 hundred light displays and 2 million lights, said Mandi Sandstrom, publicity coordinator for Charleston County Parks and Recreation.
This event runs from today, November 14th through January 4th. Other than the 3 mile spectacle of lights, there are also attractions like a carousel and sand sculpting. “We have gift shops and marshmallow roasting and the giant greeting cards so there is a lot to see and do,” explained Sandstrom. And there are even train rides available that wind through Santa’s Village.
