An Egyptian college student charged with transporting explosives wants an FBI-produced video excluded from his trial in Tampa.

A motion filed in federal court Wednesday claims that the FBI made a “Hollywood-esque” video that improperly characterizes the degree of destruction created by the items found in Youssef Megahed’s car.

The University of South Florida student and a companion were arrested after a traffic stop in South Carolina in August 2007.

Deputies found what they described as explosives in the trunk; the defense claims they were ingredients for homemade fireworks.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.

A trial date for the 22-year-old Megahed has not been set.
