UPDATE: Crews call off early morning search for missing swimmer

UPDATE at 6:40 a.m.

The Charleston County Rescue Squad says the search for a missing swimmer began as a domestic dispute. A father witnessed his son enter the water on Capri Isle in West Ashley and never exit, after he threatened to call police.

The Charleston County rescue squad has just called off the search for a missing swimmer.

Crews were searching near Capri Drive on James Island.
 
A man in his twenties went swimming at Capri Island and did not come out of the water.
   
The Charleston County Rescue Squad emailed News 2 around 5:00 a.m. to say they found footprints leading out of the marsh near-by and have called off the search.
