NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Many companies on South Carolina coast say business is down during the Harley-Davidson bike rally, with new rules Myrtle Beach imposed.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported that bikers were enjoying themselves in North Myrtle Beach on Sunday, where the bigger city’s rules don’t apply. Horry County also added laws to reduce problems.

Sonny Morabito at Xtreme Customs & Cycles at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach says business is down about half from last year.

Manager David Ankin at The Dog House North also says business is down by 50 percent. He’s outside Myrtle Beach, but is constrained by Horry County rules that prohibit his bar from having a band or people by the road to attract attention.

The Harley-Davidson rally ends Saturday. The Atlantic Beach Bikefest runs over Memorial Day weekend.
