Chief judge of SC administrative court to retire

The first chief judge of South Carolina’s Administrative Law Court is retiring.

The State of Columbia reports Marvin Kittrell has decided to step aside June 30 after 15 years on the court, created in 1993.
The 68-year-old judge is the third member of the six-person court to announce their retirement in the past year.  Kittrell says he is worried the court’s caseload will increase because of budget cuts and says he wants to travel.
The Administrative Law Court hears regulatory and licensing disputes as well as driver’s license suspension hearings.

Clerk Jana Shealy says the court will be able to function with the openings, but cases will likely be decided more slowly.
