Charleston man indicted in connection with Ravenel probe

U.S. Attorney Walter Wilkins said Thursday that a federal grand jury indicted a Charleston man as part of the Thomas Ravenel drug investigation.
Wilkins said the grand jury indicted Pascal Andre Etcheber, 45, a French citizen living in Charleston, on one count of making false statements to federal agents.
The indictment alleges that Etcheber provided false information in October 2007 during an investigation being conducted by the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Etcheber remains in custody, after being arrested Wednesday.
A detention hearing has been scheduled for March 24 before United States Magistrate Judge Robert Carr.
The maximum penalty Etcheber could receive is a fine of $250,000 and five years in prison.
