The Carolina Polo and Carriage Company has been ordered to temporarily close shop.

This after the company pled guilty to four violations of the animal welfare ordinance.

Charleston’s Director of Tourism, Vanessa Maybank suspended the carriage company for 30 days conditioned on the business closing for seven straight days.

The remaining twenty-three days, will be suspended if there are no further violations of the animal welfare ordinance during a probationary period of ninety days.

The suspension becomes effective November 24th.
