South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Director Reggie Lloyd says SLED “found no improper use of public funds” involving Gov. Mark Sanford’s trip to Argentina, where he visited his mistress.

SLED looked specifically at a 2008 South Carolina Department of Commerce trip to South America.

During that trip, Sanford said he visited his mistress in Argentina.

“The trip is legitimate,“ said Lloyd. “He conducted business on behalf of the state during that trip.“

Lloyd said Sanford had been co-operative during the investigation.

“At no time during this period of review,“ said Lloyd, “did SLED learn any information, any facts, any evidence that would suggest any crime had been committed.“

What exactly does this mean? He saw his mistress during business trips paid for by the State. Personal visits are done on "business trips" every day and written off as business expenses. This means absolutely nothing. I don't care about Sanford's "love life". I do care that he placed this state at risk by leaving in the way he did and also his use of the Bible/religion to explain his screw-up. (Pardon the pun)Don't even want to talk about his condemnation of Clinton and his call for Clinton's resignation for adultery. His lying about everything until he was caught, etc., etc. His record as governor prior to this is not good, what can we expect now??

What a surprise! SLED found no wrong doing on the part of their boss. Amazing. Mark Sanford paid the State back $3,000.00. That screams misappropriation of funds. Having SLED investigate the Gov's finances is the equivalent of having the AR/AP department of Trident Technical College investigate Dr. Mary Thornely's finances. TAINTED!!! Shouldn't there have been an Independent Investigation???
