Sanford says he “crossed lines” with other women, not in love with wife

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford says he “crossed lines” with a handful of women other than his mistress - but never had sex with them.

The governor says he “never crossed the ultimate line” with anyone but Maria Belen Chapur, the Argentine at the center of a scandal that has derailed Sanford’s once-promising political career.

During an emotional interview at his Statehouse office with The Associated Press on Tuesday, Sanford said Chapur is his soul mate but he’s trying to fall back in love with his wife.

He says that during the other encounters he “let his guard down” with some physical contact but “didn’t cross the sex line.“

He wouldn’t go into detail.

Sanford said the casual encounters happened outside the U.S. while he was married but before he met Chapur.

Andy Savage was on Comcast 2 earlier. He was talking about another women in the Sanford closet,... The Sutton lady, who hired McCullough, atty., fearing Sanford was going to put her name in the street. The rumor is that Sutton has been having an affair with Sanford for months. But they say that there is more. Another woman, former employee in the Governor's Office by the name of "Marcia". Lastly, I was told there is more involving the Commerce folks. Someone needs to investigate these allegations.

GET THE HOOK! This little boy needs to man up and quit seeking approval from his mommy to do the wrong thing AGAIN! Jenny should kick him to the curb, the state legislators need to do an intervention, he needs to resign, go to Argentina, and let our state resume important business. His latest announcements show that he is no shape to be Governor, husband, father, or any kind of role model!

The Governor has a top security clearance. As I recall, anytime someone with a top security clearance develops a close relationship with a foreign national, he must report the nature of that relationship. Is this true or not in this case?

Governor Sanford has said enough! He has confessed and keeps confessing about his feelings for his mistress. He just wants out of his marriage. If he really wanted to reconcile with his wife and his children, he would and should keep his mouth shut. As for the "mistress," she has no respect for herself and for others. Yes, I agree with her, God will be the judge of this whole mess she has created.

Wow!! Really, Sanford, what you you said seems like another stab in the back to everyone involved (including your 4 children). Why do you need other people to tell you that you want to be with this "other" woman? Why should your wife have to call it quits after so many years? One thought... You are a coward and the people of SC have finally heard the truth!! Sanford for President! Oh, I mean, Sanford for passive behavior! Yea! Go SC!

First, the Governor has embarrassed us. It is a sad state of affairs (no pun intended) for South Carolina. I voted for him as well. But, based on his stubborn will, and his desire to play hypocritical politics, he and Jenny will most likely do “politically correct” public relation things. I suspect this will involve moving the entire family back to the Governor’s Mansion, telling the world they are going to reconcile for the sake of the kids, making family photos to be printed, and attempting to show South Carolina citizens things are getting back to business…at least for the next 18 months. I Jenny goes along with this she is a fool.....

Enough already-when does the Governor plan to attend to state business!!!???!!!???? He is just adding fuel to the fire that he needs to step down. We've all had it up to our eyeballs with his ad naseum comments about his mistress. I was hoping to see him and his wife work things out, but he seems bent on making it impossible for her to ever take him back. Either way, if he can't stop commenting about his affair, maybe the pople in this state need to step forward and ask him to leave office! I am more interested in what he plans to do about record umemployment and continuing budget cuts than his libido!!!!!!!!!!!!!
