A Moncks Corner man appeared before municipal judge Peggy Box Thursday for allegedly shooting his wife, but no bond was set.

Tito Harris will have to go before a magistrate because the charge against him of murder could lead to life in prison or the death penalty.

Police responded to the home of Tito and Shantay Harris on Golden Aspen Dr for a shooting around 5 am on Wednesday. They arrived to find Tito, 37, leaving the area and his wife Shantay, 32, dead at the residence.

Police say initial reports lead them to think the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute. Tito confessed to shooting his wife and gave police the gun in his pocket. Police say the shooting happened after an argument and they responded to the home for a domestic dispute.

The couple have 2 children. Shantay Harris’s father and sisters the Watkins were on hand for the court proceedings Thurday. The youngest sister Sonia Watkins lived with Shantay and Tito and was home at the time of the shooting. “I can’t belive he killed my sister,“ was all Sonia Watkins could say.

Shantay Harris was a nurse and some of her co-workers attended court. Her funeral services are expected soon with no date announced.
