A man says he found a dead body inside his shed and now North Charleston Police want to know what happened to the woman he found and how she ended up there.

The homeowner found the body at his rental property on Cambridge Avenue Monday night around eight.  The Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 46 year old Adrienne Clark, but officials aren’t releasing much information.

Michael Daniel walks by the shed twice a day to and from the bus stop and his home and he never would have guessed this would be the scene of a homicide.

“I hate to see it. It’s a nice neighborhood. I hate to see anything like that,” he told News Two.

Officers say the owner of the empty home called police when he found the body of a woman in a backyard shed Monday night.  Outside—police found her purse and identified her as Adrienne Clark.  She lives on the street, and some neighbors I spoke with say they’ve seen her walking along the street before, but didn’t really know her.

“You don’t expect this in this area at all. Just shocking. I don’t know what happened I’m just shocked that it happened in our vicinity really,” Daniel Ladson told News Two.

There’s a bus stop just a few feet away from where the shed where the home owner found the body and neighbors say with so many kids in the area it’s a tough lesson for them to learn at such a young age.

“Be careful these days. The time we’re living in is the time to be careful. Things shock you these days. Just to be careful,” Ladson continued.

“Is it going to make you think twice about locking your doors or taking other precautions?” I asked Michael Daniel.

“I guess, but you have to live. You can’t let fear run your life you know and I think our neighborhood, our street is a nice safe street,” he answered.

A street that now has a murder mystery marking one corner, as police try to solve the crime.

This is the 12th homicide of the year in North Charleston.  In 2007, there were 26.  In 2006, there were 28 and in 2005, there were 11.
