An off-duty Berkeley County sheriff’s deputy confronted two armed men who robbed a pizza delivery driver, according to Goose Creek Police.
Police said Wednesday that the driver knocked on the door of the deputy’s home late Tuesday night and reported that two men had just robbed him at gunpoint. After calling Goose Creek Police, the deputy spotted the two men nearby trying to break into a car.
Police said the deputy stood behind his patrol car and announced, “Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, let me see your hands.“
The two men pointed their guns at the deputy, police said. He ordered the robbers to put the guns down but the two jumped a nearby fence and escaped.
The pizza delivery driver told police that the two men had ordered him out of his car and onto the ground.
He said they tried to steal the car, but weren’t able to.
