Samuel Robinson defeated 17-year incumbent William Alston to become the new mayor of Awendaw.

Robinson won by 21 votes.

Here are the results:

Robinson 349 (51.4%)

Alston 328 (48.3%)

We have preliminary numbers in on Awendaw’s mayoral race.

So far, there are 245 votes for incumbent William Alston, and 314 for Samuel Robinson.

Alston has 83 absentee ballots, and Robinson has 33 absentees.

The total for the race is 347 votes for Robinson and 328 votes for current Mayor Alston.

It looks like Robinson has beaten Alston by just 19 votes.
