Sleeping Woman Killed

A woman has been shot to death in St. Stephen after someone fired into her apartment as she was asleep. Police Chief John Walters says investigators don’t know if 24-year-old Kimberly Jones was the intended target of the shooting early Thursday. Police say Jones, her boyfriend and her four children were in the apartment. No one else was hurt.

Walters told a local news paper one shooter fired from the parking lot and another shooter was directly in front of the window. He said one shot struck Jones and the others struck the walls to a bedroom where three children were sleeping. Walters would not release information about possible suspects, citing the ongoing investigation. The State Law Enforcement Division and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office were assisting in the investigation.
