Authorities say a 2-week-old South Carolina infant missing overnight has been returned unharmed to his mother.

Conway Police spokeswoman Catina Hipp says Sharawn Jerod Chestnut Jr. was found Tuesday afternoon and returned to his mother. The infant was found following a news conference about his disappearance.

Hipp says details will follow.

WMBF-TV reported that family spokeswoman Bernadette Baker says the baby was found in a plastic bag under the seat of a vehicle in a restaurant parking lot. Baker is the infant’s great aunt.

Officers were called to the home about midnight. The mother, Criche Nelson, told police she put her 1-year-old daughter and infant son to bed around 11 p.m., and he was missing when she checked on them an hour later.
