After having her three girls, Evette Vanderheiden put on a lot of weight.

“I got heavy, I got up to 215,“ exclaimed Vanderheiden.

She lost 70 pounds but pregnancy left its mark on her body.

“My breasts got bigger, they never went back to the size they were before, your hips, just everything. It takes a toll on everything,“ explained Vanderheiden.

To address those areas most affected by pregnancy, plastic surgeons are performing more Mommy Makeovers, which is a surgery combining both, a breast and abdominal procedure.

“As anesthetic techniques have become safer, we can do more procedures in one sitting as opposed to splitting them out over time,“ said Plastic Surgeon Christine Stiles.

Last year plastic surgeries were down 9%, but these types of combination procedures were up the same amount for two reasons.

“It lets you take off less time from work and family duties and it also helps to rejuvenate a whole unit,“ said Dr. Stiles.

Evette chose a breast reduction and tummy tuck and the recovery was painful.

But three weeks post op she is down a size and feeling like herself again.

Evette’s breast reduction was covered by insurance.

Mommy makeovers can range in price from $8,000 to $17,000.
