Botox. It’s fast, fairly painless, and a good way to get rid of wrinkles… at least temporarily.

But is it safe?

With a quick prick of a needle, wrinkles are smooth and within minutes, patients admit they feel refreshed and young.

“It is something that is a very simple very good technique to soften the area,“ Dr. James Pietraszek, a plastic surgeon, said.
Dr. James Pietraszek says millions of Americans get Botox each year. It’s non-invasive and does not leave scars, and for many more affordable than other procedures.

“It is something that is going to become more popular now because it’s an inexpensive way for patients to get something done,“ Dr. Pietraszek said.

The average price for Botox injections range from $200 to $500 for each individual injection. It is usually priced per unit, but remember it doesn’t last forever, only 3 to 4 months.

Dr. James Pietraszek says it doesn’t hurt, though some people may experience some bruising. And he has some advice, “You don’t want to do things like exercise for 24 hours, you don’t want to go into the sun, you don’t want to have alcohol.“

Dr. James Pietraszek also says patients need to question their expert’s knowledge of facial muscles before going under the needle.
