Liam Neeson stars in the new drama ‘Taken’, which opens in theaters this weekend.
‘Taken’ is one of those movies where you think you’ve seen the film just from the TV trailers.
But that’s not to say it’s a fairly good action thriller because it stars Liam Neeson.
He plays a retired CIA operative, conveniently, whose ex-wife is portrayed by Famke Janssen.
He’s just reluctantly given his permission to allow their 17-year old daughter the o-k to summer with a friend in Paris.
25-year-old actress Maggie Grace portrays the teenager who’s kidnapped on her first day there along with her friend in their apartment.
But not before frantically calling her father.
Remaining as calm as possible, the father tells her kidnappers what they’re up against.
“Taken” evokes the George C. Scott 1979 movie ‘Hard Core.‘
That was about a father tracking his daughter, who’d fallen into the morass of the world of x-rated movies.
While this one has too many fight sequences, Liam Neeson’s a terrific leading man in any father’s nightmare.
You’ve seen it before but he somehow makes it fresh.
