The folks at “Saturday Night Live” will be doing double duty once again this fall.
A live 30 minute edition of “Weekend Update” will lead off Thursday nights, followed by “Parks and Recreation”, “The Office” and “30 Rock”.
In late fall a new comedy, “Community”, about life at a community college, will take over “Saturday Night Live”‘s Thursday time slot.
“Heroes” returns to anchor NBC’s Monday nights, moving to 8pm, followed by a new drama about a group of paramedics called “Trauma”.
Following “Trauma” at 10 on Monday and every weeknight will be another late night foray into prime time, “The Jay Leno Show”.
“The Biggest Loser” returns with two hour episodes on Tuesday nights, while Wednesdays will start with the new family comedy “Parenthood” featuring Maura Tierney and Peter Krause.
“Law and Order: SVU” makes the move to Wednesdays at 9pm.
Meanwhile, the original “Law and Order” is also back for its 20th season tying “Gunsmoke” as TV’s longest running drama.
It’ll air Fridays at 8, followed by the LA cop drama “Southland”.
Also returning is the action comedy “Chuck”.
A concerted effort by fans and TV critics helped save the show.
It’ll be back in its 8pm Monday time slot after the 2010 Olympics.
“Celebrity Apprentice” will return next winter, and “Friday Night Lights” will be back next summer.
Not included in the NBC lineup for next season are “Medium” and “My Name is Earl”.
“Knight Rider”, “Kath and Kim” and “Life” have also been canceled.
