Golden Globes Wrap

The Golden Globes were ‘back to normal’ Sunday night.

After the writer’s strike wrecked last year’s awards ceremony, the glitz and glamour returned as Hollywood’s biggest stars turned out to honor the best in movies and television.
And it’s a night Hollywood missed out on last year.

But this time around, the stars, both familiar and new, were on the red carpet.
Most of the night’s nominees were on hand, but thoughts were on one who wasn’t, Heath Ledger.

“Everybody in the room tonight loves Heath.  A lot of people have worked with him, and it’s his night,“ said actor Aaron Eckhart. 
The Australian did indeed posthumously win best supporting actor.  His “Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan accepted the award.

Pride stretched around the globe as the Indian romance “Slumdog Millionaire” won four Globes, including best drama, and best director Danny Boyle.
It was also an emotional night for Kate Winslet who won two Golden Globes.

One for best supporting actress for “The Reader” and best actress in a drama for “Revolutionary Road”.
Winning also overwhelmed Sally Hawkins. 

She took best actress in a musical or comedy for “Happy Go Lucky”.
Colin Farrell also picked up acting honors for the comedy “In Bruges”, while the Woody Allen film “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” was named best comedy or musical.

“The Wrestler” brought Mickey Rourke honors as best actor in a drama.

The film’s title tune also gave Bruce Springsteen a Globe, as he beat out, among others, Clint Eastwood.
In the television categories, it was a sweep for NBC’s 30 Rock.

The show took best comedy for the third year in a row.

Alec Baldwin took best actor and series creator Tina fey won best actress.
The historical drama “John Adams” won best TV miniseries or movie,  And its stars, Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney took acting honors.
