The Silicon Valley, long known for ‘making’ movies is about to change the game all over again.
New technology, and a new way to see your favorite films.
When ‘monsters vs. Aliens’ hits theatres, you’ll be able to see it in 3D.
Not the 3D you’re used to, but something called “intru 3D,“ a high-tech collaboration between DreamWorks animation, which brought us “Shrek,“ along with silicon valley neighbors Intel and Hewlett-Packard.
“I actually consider HP and Intel the godparents of DreamWorks animation,“ said DreamWorks Animation CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg
Katzenberg sat down with us to talk about how the Silicon Valley is going 3D.
DreamWorks hired 150 people, and is spending tens of millions of dollars to get intru 3D into a theatre near you.
But with so much technology going into “home” theatres these days, Katzenberg says he knows the challenge is to make going into the theatre to see a movie fun.
“We need to bring them back to the theatre, and the only way it’s gonna happen is to offer them something they can’t get at home, and it has to be a lot better,“ Katzenberg said.
Starting with a bunch of monsters, and 3D glasses.
“Monsters vs. Aliens” opens March 27th.
It will open all over the place in standard 2D, and in certain theatres in 3D.
If you want to see it in 3D, you’ll need the glasses, and you’ll need to pay a few dollars extra.
