Preparing for Hanna

Local emergency responders are already on standby in case Hurricane Hanna comes our way. 

Charleston County has an Emergency Operations Center they activate in the event of a disaster like a hurricane.  They haven’t done that yet, but are putting members of the team on call. 

The county uses a scale of five to one to describe what level of response they are operating at under emergency conditions. 

Five means they are at normal day-to-day activities. 

Monday afternoon they upgraded to level four.  That means there is a possibility of an emergency or disaster that might require them to put their emergency operations center into action.

Charleston County is on alert at this point and urging you to prepare yourself for hurricane Hanna.  That means stocking up on food and cash and filling your car up with gas.  If the county issues a mandatory evacuation, it does provide a bus pick-up service with 75 stops in the county.
