South Carolina’s Senate Republican Party leader is calling on Gov. Mark Sanford to resign.

Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler of Gaffney said Tuesday’s revelations from the governor about his own affair raise doubts
about Sanford’s ability to lead the state.

In a lengthy, emotional interview with The Associated Press, the governor described seven meetings with the woman he describes as his soul mate. That includes two multi-night stays with her in New York.

Peeler says the governor has not been consistent in his story about liaisons with his Argentine mistress. He also says the governor seems unfocused.

The governor during his interview with the AP said he is fit to serve and plans to stay in office.

What is being said by the Media is just what He got caught at. Who knows what other little hidden stories remain. Then there is that little issue of Leaving the Country and not informing the appropriate people. Face the facts, He has no problem Lying and has shown complete disrespect to the Family and citizens of our State. Since Jenny and the Boys aren't number one on his misguided list He should resign and and pursue a career with his Soul Mate in Argentina. Sure that country can use him for something.

What Gov. Sanford did was absolutely wrong, but how can we put him in front of the firing squade citing he STOLE our money for his own, personal FLING. Surely Gov. Sanford went to Argentina to solicit Business for the State of South Carolina. What he did was absolutely wrong but what any individual does on his own time is his/her business. I have not seen any mention of any itenirary which was planned for the governor. Surely there was a business plan for each day he was TAD. I think most people feel he took off on these trips with nothing in mind but to visit his sweetheart. OUR governor has committed an offense that HE must deal with for the rest of his life. He betrayed his wife and family but I don't feel he BETRAYED our fair state. I also commend Jenny Sanford for not standing by his side and doing what would appear to be politically correct. She appears to be a strong lady and she WILL make him pay for his mistakes. It appears to me that Gov. Sanford, at present, is a broken man. Yes, it would be easier to step down, but WE elected him into office and NOT EVERYONE wants him to step down. Mark Sanford HAS been good for the State of South Carolina. He received scrutiny for not wanting to take STIMULUS money. All those who opposed the Governor will come to see exactly what it will cost the State for taking these funds. If those of you that wish the Gov. would step down, remember that we will inherit our standing Lt. Gov. whom appears to be less than desireable by most S.C. Voters as has been stated in many forums. Let Mark Sanford lick his wounds in peace, do anything and everything he can muster to resurrect his marriage and family and let him finish his term. Many politicians of the state and the entire country which committed the same offense have seemed to slip by the firing squad.

As a female from the great state of South Carolina, I have a few comments: 1. What woman in her right mind would have an affair with someone as ugly as Mark Sanford? Disgusting! 2. Please...stop embarassing your children and wife. Shut up, resign and concentrate on your children instead of your nonexistent political career. What is more important? 3. What is he THINKING? Enough already with the confessions! Resign and go live in Argentina. I am sick to death of the confessions and apologies. 4. This state has enough to be embarrassed over without going through the humiliation Mark Sanford is putting us through.

I am just waiting to drive by the State House to see the littered signs of a female revolt in our state! With each passing day I am surprised that we are yet to see men's clothing..trousers, shirts, shoes, boxers, scattered across the lawn in front of the Confederate memorial with a handwritten poster board sign on a stake that reads "and don't come back"! OOOPs, I think I just gave someone an idea! Meanwhile women all across the state are signing an on-line support web page for Jenny Sanford!

Yes what Mark Sanford did was wrong and he will have to face the consequences for it. But I must ask how many of you would resign from our jobs and haw many of you that are asking for Mark Sanford to resign are just doing so because you have never supported him in the first place. If he did break the law then he should face what ever the consequences are but lets let the Sled check into what laws were broke and go from there but until then everyone needs to back off and Sanford needs to stop talk to the media and media needs to stop digging into this matter until Sled has finished looking into thing.

I do not feel that the ole' Gov has the right to use taxpayers money for his little trists. Sure he is going to pay back some but only because he was caught. Would he have paid it back if he was not caught? That is stealing from the great state of South Carolina and I feel that is a crime punishable by law. If someone else did it he would feel it was stealing. Sorry Gov you need to be prosecuted for stealing from me and my fellow taxpayers and hit the road (perhaps they need a good ole' boy in Argentina.

I do not feel that he is in the right frame of mind right now to judge if he is fit to serve. He needs to go!
