80-year-old man found dead by SC road likely shot

Authorities say an 80-year-old man appears to have been shot to death and his body left beside his car on a rural road in Colleton County.
   
Sheriff George Malone says deputies Monday afternoon found the body of Freddie Steward of Ruffin beside his 2008 gray Ford Focus on a road near U.S. 21 about 10 miles west of Walterboro.
   
Malone calls the case a homicide. Deputies have no suspects or a motive.
   
Investigators say an autopsy is planned Tuesday to determine when and how Steward died.
