My News 2: A safe place for Lowcountry youth
Wednesday MN2
Doug Sekelik from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society visits MN2.Being a teen is not easy. Dealing with growing pains, hormones and not always the ideal home situation, etc. Some teens see the only way out as running away. In the Lowcountry, the Beacon Runaway Homeless Shelter is the only youth shelter for children 18 year old and younger. In 2008, The National Runaway Switchboard received 411 calls from our area. Safe Places coordinator Jennifer Brown was a guest on My News 2 to talk about the services the shelter offers.
