Steve Martin is back as Inspector Clouseau in the sequel to the ‘Pink Panther’.
Martin is the only conceivable actor who could possibly take up the iconic character of Inspector Clouseau, horrible French accent and all, created by the late Peter Sellers in the 1963 original movie.

This one is a sequel to the earlier film which starred Martin.

And John Cleese is on board as the new Inspector Dreyfus, Clouseau’s always angry at him boss.

The bumbling inspector of the Paris police, temporarily demoted to parking violation duties, suddenly is chosen to lead an international team of detectives, tracking down a thief who’s stolen the Shroud of Turin, the Magna Carta and the Pink Panther, which is now a symbol of France.

He’s also stolen the Pope’s ring.

And, while a colleague played by Andy Garcia has just found what may be the key clue if you will he recreates the Pontiff’s movements before the crime.
There’s a wonderful scene in which Clouseau dines with Emily Mortimer as his office assistant and a love interest straight out of a Charlie Chaplin like situation.

And of course an homage to Kato who in the Sellers version always had a karate fight with his boss at unexpected moments.

In this movie the tradition is carried on by the sons of another policeman.
