Stocks rebound
Published: December 5, 2008
Stocks have shaken off the losses that mounted following the worst monthly employment report in 34 years.
The Dow industrials had been down more than 200 points in earlier trading, but moved into positive territory in mid-afternoon—and have been as many as 200 points higher.
Oil prices have dropped to four-year lows, raising the prospect that gas prices could soon reach $1 a gallon. In late-session trading, light sweet crude for January delivery was down $2.47 on the New York Mercantile Exchange—$41.20 a barrel.
