Web site, Sample U, allows companies to test products before releasing to public

"I think some things are bigger than others, but they're very interesting, very interesting," says college senior Mahogany Jones.

She is talking about a hands on room of products at Alliant University, a place where you're the judge and jury.

"Sometimes we're the ones that utilize the products more and we have some insight maybe the inventor didn't think of. And we can through some of our ideas. I makes us feel like when we're out purchasing product we've had some sayso," says Jones.

This is Sample U, a place that allows consumers to give feedback on new and existing products. And the businesses are listening.

"Companies will often make changes to the products, changes to the ad, changes to the brand messages," says Sample U's Craig Bongart.

Restorative Remedies is asking for feedback on their latest commercial.

"We ask them what they liked about it, what they didn't like about it, what they don't like about it, what they remembered about it afterwards," says J.T Konstanturos from Restorative Remedies.

So the products at Sample U can be across the board, whether it's a computer program or a very bright way to identify your luggage.

"We are putting a couple new ideas on the market and we're trying to get feedback on those," says Intuit's Bob Warrington.

The folks at Intuit want to know what you think about two of their current software products, but it could just as easily be questions about tweezers or duct tape.

Sample U is a private company all about marketing and the consumer, the first is here in San Diego, and Mahogany plans to come back.

"I would definitely spend time in here, gonna be one of my hangouts," she says.
